Board Bios

    Jeff Gruber, President

    Jeff Gruber is a Senior Human Resource Executive with over 30 years of Human Resources experience. He possesses a diverse leadership background from multiple industries with organizations such as PepsiCo, Bell and Howell, NeuroSource and Caremark. His industry experiences include consumer products and marketing, manufacturing, healthcare, telecommunications, distribution and food service. He relocated to Santa Fe in 2014 from Chicago.

    Jeff started J N Gruber Group in 2014 and his HR practice expertise can be delivered as part of a consulting engagement or as an in-house interim Human Resources leader. Jeff holds an MBA from St. Francis College and a BS in Business from Indiana University. 

    Judy Perkins, Past President

    Judy Perkins is a proven leader in the field of human resources and talent management, who brings over thirty years of experience in corporate management, consulting, and human resources to Sunrise Springs Spa & Resort and Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs Resort & Spa as the Director of Human Resources. Before moving to Santa Fe, Judy was the Senior Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer at The Cape Cod Five Cents Savings Bank in Orleans, Massachusetts, one of the largest full-service community banks in the Northeast.  During her human resources career she has served on a variety of non-profit Boards, including the Cape Cod Human Resources Association. 

    Prior to working at Cape Cod Five, Judy was a human resources and management consultant to over 125 different organizations during a thirteen-year period. Her clients were from a variety of industries including financial services, advertising, hospitality, higher education, manufacturing, healthcare, hi-tech, government, and non-profit. Before opening her own consulting practice, Judy worked as an Employment Manager at a community bank in Worcester, Massachusetts, and was the Director of Career Services at Nichols College in Dudley, Massachusetts.

    Judy received her B.S. in Social Work from Syracuse University and an MBA with a concentration in human resources from Clark University. 

    She most recently earned her Holistic Health Coach certificate from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN). Judy is also the author of three books and courses previously offered by the American Management Association: A Manager’s Guide to Human Behavior (5th edition), The Americans with Disabilities Act (1992), and Making Diversity Work (video and trainer’s guide).  Judy is a Certified Holistic Health Coach, and is certified in Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), also known as Thought Field Therapy (TFT).

    Judy was awarded the "2017 Human Resources Management Professional of the Year" by the SHRM-New Mexico.

    Joe Palmeri, VP Finance and Treasurer

    Joe is currently the Manager, Talent Acquisition & HR Management for Los Alamos National Bank. In this role Joe focuses on talent, policies and procedures and daily operations of the HR department.

    Originally from Rochester, New York, Joe moved to the Southwest in April 2016 and has worked in Human Resources for more than 14 years. Joe has worked in the service, retail, manufacturing, non-profit industries, and currently the financial industry.

    Joe received his Bachelor of Science in Marketing Management from St. John Fisher College in Pittsford, NY. He then went on to receive his Master of Science in Management with focuses in Business, Service and Project Management from Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, NY. He currently holds the SHRM-SCP certification.

    Joe enjoys many outdoor activities, including hiking and tennis. 

    Michael Ibarra de Perea, VP Professional Development and Programs

    Michael is a Human Resource/Management Professional with over 10 years of experience leading people and empowering teams. He received a BS in Anthropology from Tulane University, an MBA from New Mexico Highlands University, and is certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources by the Human Resource Certification Institute. He currently serves as Director, Human Resources for Southwest CARE Center.  Michael is a native of Santa Fe, currently residing in Albuquerque and an active member of Northern New Mexico Human Resources Association, Human Resource Management Association of New Mexico, and American Society for Healthcare Human Resources Administration.

    LaGina Glass

    LaGina Glass moved to Santa Fe, NM from San Diego, CA in 2013. She studied business at San Diego State University and completed her studies at University of Phoenix with the degree of Bachelor of Science in Business Management. She has widespread experience in human resources leadership in the retail, wholesale and financial industries. LaGina’s desire to help people, led her to the art of alternative healing where she further defined her passion and now serves as a Reiki Practitioner, Teacher and recently an Aromatherapist.

    She administers, teaches and brings awareness of the energy healing capabilities of Reiki to people in various settings and environments including the workplace. Her passion is to share the experience of Reiki and demonstrate the power of relaxation and the importance of self-care. Her vision is to bring Reiki into communities where access to such treatments and teachings are scarce.

    Brandon Writtenberry, Co-VP Membership

    Brandon started his progressive business career after graduating Summa Cum Laude from the University of New Mexico in 2010. Since then, he has done everything he can to work on his passion of making New Mexico a better economic community. For the first five years of his career, Brandon worked on that mission by working for a staffing firm where he helped thousands of unemployed people find the work that they desperately needed. Brandon led that staffing firm to considerable success and growth, even in a time when New Mexico unemployment rates were the highest in the country.

    Now, Brandon still works on that mission of bettering the economy of New Mexico, but in different ways. He now works for a consulting and risk management firm called AON, where Brandon helps organizations mitigate risk and maximize strategy. He sits on the board of many different professional organizations that provide education and networking opportunities in the realms of Human Resources, Finance, and Business Development. Brandon is also on the implementation team for New Mexico First, an organization with the mission of passing business-friendly legislation. No matter which organization Brandon is working with, he always makes teamwork and progress his top priority, and he won’t stop working until New Mexico has the most vibrant economy in the country. 

    Shane Muth, Co-VP Membership

    Shane Muth was raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico where he graduated from the University of New Mexico. He and his Wife, Lisa moved to Houston and later Corpus Christi, Texas where he worked for years as a commercial hard-hat diver for Oceaneering International.  Primarily working in the gulf of Mexico but doing short stints on both the US East and West coast as well as Brazil and Africa. In 2000 Lisa and Shane had a wonderful daughter, Isabella, at which time they decided to move home to New Mexico where Shane started his insurance career in Santa Fe with his father at Mark Muth Insurance Agency. Through mergers and acquisitions HUB international is now his employer. Shane provides property and casualty business insurance solutions to all kinds of commercial endeavors like restaurants, not for profits, hotels/resorts, retail, manufacturing and much more. 

    Carmen V. Chavez, VP of Communications - Newsletter

    Carmen has recently returned to New Mexico from Southern California. While in California, Carmen worked in hospitality at a very busy Holiday Inn located near Los Angeles International Airport. She was the Director of Human Resources at The Club at Las Campanas for five years and is now very happy to be back once again. She was instrumental during the transition of the club from developer to a member owned club. 

    Carmen is reconnecting with her many previous co-workers, new staff members, HR professionals in both Santa Fe and Albuquerque. She has been a member of SHRM National and finds the importance of networking with the local SHRM chapters both in California and Santa Fe.      

    Overall, Carmen has over 15 years of progressive Human Resources experience and is looking forward to the new chapter of her life at Las Campanas again.

    Carmen holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration.

    Miche Louise Bove

    Miche Louise Bové is currently a Rehabilitation Counselor with New Mexico Division of Vocational Rehabilitation. She started this new position in November 2017.  Her role focuses on providing Vocational Rehabilitation services to clients who meet disability eligibility criteria in order to achieve an employment outcome. Prior to that, Miche has worked in the human resources field since 2006. Miche has worked in the education, insurance, medical and government industries.

    Miche graduated Cum Honore from the College of Santa Fe with a Bachelors of Organizational Psychology in 2006. She received her MBA from the College of Santa Fe in 2009. She currently holds the Professional in Human Resources from the Human Resource Certification Institute and the Society of Human Resource Management – Certified Professional.

    Miche grew up in the house her mother was born in Santa Fe. She enjoys helping her father with the Acequia Madre and occasional rock hounding trips to nearby mines. She enjoys going on motorcycle rides, hiking and exploring new places with her fiancé, Marshall.
