Board Bios


    Judy Perkins, President

    Judy Perkins is a proven leader in the field of human resources and talent management, who brings over thirty years of experience in corporate management, consulting, and human resources to Sunrise Springs Spa & Resort and Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs Resort & Spa as the Director of Human Resources. Before moving to Santa Fe, Judy was the Senior Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer at The Cape Cod Five Cents Savings Bank in Orleans, Massachusetts, one of the largest full-service community banks in the Northeast.  During her human resources career she has served on a variety of non-profit Boards, including the Cape Cod Human Resources Association. 

    Prior to working at Cape Cod Five, Judy was a human resources and management consultant to over 125 different organizations during a thirteen-year period. Her clients were from a variety of industries including financial services, advertising, hospitality, higher education, manufacturing, healthcare, hi-tech, government, and non-profit. Before opening her own consulting practice, Judy worked as an Employment Manager at a community bank in Worcester, Massachusetts, and was the Director of Career Services at Nichols College in Dudley, Massachusetts.

    Judy received her B.S. in Social Work from Syracuse University and an MBA with a concentration in human resources from Clark University. 

    She most recently earned her Holistic Health Coach certificate from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN). Judy is also the author of three books and courses previously offered by the American Management Association: A Manager’s Guide to Human Behavior (5th edition), The Americans with Disabilities Act (1992), and Making Diversity Work (video and trainer’s guide).  Judy is a Certified Holistic Health Coach, and is certified in Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), also known as Thought Field Therapy (TFT).

    Judy was awarded the "2017 Human Resources Management Professional of the Year" by the SHRM-New Mexico.

    Jeff Gruber, President Elect & VP of Membership

    Jeff Gruber is a Senior Human Resource Executive with over 30 years of Human Resources experience. He possesses a diverse leadership background from multiple industries with organizations such as PepsiCo, Bell and Howell, NeuroSource and Caremark. His industry experiences include consumer products and marketing, manufacturing, healthcare, telecommunications, distribution and food service. He relocated to Santa Fe in 2014 from Chicago.

    Jeff started J N Gruber Group in 2014 and his HR practice expertise can be delivered as part of a consulting engagement or as an in-house interim Human Resources leader. Jeff holds an MBA from St. Francis College and a BS from Indiana University

    Joe Palmeri, Treasurer

    Lisa Bronowicz, VP of Administration/Secretary

    Lisa is currently HR Supervisor in charge of onboarding for PMS, Presbyterian Medical Services. Her prior positions were  Director of Human Resources at Pecos Valley Medical Center and Director of Human Resources at Easter Seals El Mirador. Before that, Lisa spent three years as Executive Director of Open Hands, a nonprofit serving the elderly and disabled in Santa Fe, during which she founded the Santa Fe Renaissance Fair in partnership with El Rancho de Las Golondrinas

    Lisa is long-standing and active member of NNMHRA and, of course, a SHRM member. She is a Senior Professional of Human Resources (SPHR) and a SHRM Certified Senior Professional (SHRM-SCP) and holds a B.S. degree in philosophy and psychology from Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Connecticut. She has lived in Santa Fe since 1995.

    Geri Budenholzer, VP Professional Development & Programs

    For the first half of her life, Geri lived in the Midwest; she graduated from Marquette University with a degree in Journalism, and from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee with a MBA. In 1994, excited for the change from Wisconsin lakes to New Mexico mountains and sunsets, she made the move to Santa Fe. She’s lived here ever since.

    She recently joined the State of New Mexico Economic Development Department as the Human Resources Manager. Previously she was the HR Manager for The Santa Fe New Mexican and worked as the Human Resources Administrator for the State of New Mexico Administrative Office of the Courts. Geri has her PHR and SHRM-CP certifications.

    She teaches spin classes, a workout on a stationary bike, at Revolution Santa Fe, and feels an accomplishment when she completes a boot camp session. She can’t imagine life without her longtime partner, Mark, and two dogs. In her downtime, she loves to read.

    Carmen V. Trujillo, Co-VP of Communications

    Carmen has recently returned to New Mexico from Southern California. While in California, Carmen worked in hospitality at a very busy Holiday Inn located near Los Angeles International Airport. She was the Director of Human Resources at The Club at Las Campanas for five years and is now very happy to be back once again. She was instrumental during the transition of the club from developer to a member owned club. 

    Carmen is reconnecting with her many previous co-workers, new staff members, HR professionals in both Santa Fe and Albuquerque. She has been a member of SHRM National and finds the importance of networking with the local SHRM chapters both in California and Santa Fe.      

    Overall, Carmen has over 15 years of progressive Human Resources experience and is looking forward to the new chapter of her life at Las Campanas again.

    Carmen holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration.

    Maya Hildebrand, Co-VP of Communications

    Emily Stern, VP Diversity

    Emily Stern is an author, educator, and social justice advocate and activist. She leads the Santa Fe Community College’s Center for Diversity and Integrated Learning, which is a unique partnership between Human Resources and Academic Affairs, and its decisions are steered by an advisory council made up of faculty, staff, students, and external partners. The Center’s mission is to promote inclusiveness, equity, and community through collaboration with internal and external partners, to design and host events related to diversity and integrated learning, as well as campuswide initiatives, projects, trainings, and activities, in which students, faculty, staff, and partners participate. In addition to teaching a range of English, Reading, and Creative Writing courses, spanning college through graduate level, Emily creates trainings and curriculum that address issues of diversity, equity, and inclusiveness for all students and employees across the disciplines and departments, including hiring panel diversity and equity advocacy and awareness, unconscious bias, cultural competency, LGBTQ+ allyship and awareness, and Title IX awareness and investigation. As a veteran in the diversity, equity, and inclusiveness education and advocacy world, Emily has been participating in this ever-evolving field for 23 years. She hopes to continue participating in systemic change, paradigm shifts, and the creation and maintenance of conscientious, informed, and equitable environments.

     Originally from the Southside of Chicago, Emily left the Midwest to pursue her undergraduate degree on the west coast at The Evergreen State College, where she studied teaching, writing, and nonprofit management. She went on to receive her MFA in Creative Nonfiction at Goddard College, where she completed a book length creative thesis, as well as a critical thesis about women and AIDS in literature. She has read her original writing, as well as taught and consulted all over the country, since 1993.  In addition to her full time position at SFCC, she’s also contributing faculty at Santa Fe University of Art and Design and the Institute for American Indian Arts. She’s been in Santa Fe for eight years, and lives with her 8-year-old daughter and partner. To learn more about Emily, check out her website at

    Abby Dietz, VP Marketing

    Abby Dietz is a Partner and Recruiter with The Hire Firm.  Her recent industry experience includes financial services, non-profits, education, construction, healthcare, legal, finance and accounting, executive management, customer service, and administration. She works strategically with large corporations and small to mid-sized organizations to find creative, lasting solutions for their staffing and recruiting needs. 

    Her strong background in sales and customer service has contributed to her success as a staffing and recruiting professional. Originally from Pennsylvania, Abby made Santa Fe her home 4 years ago.  Since moving to the southwest, Abby has dabbled in many outdoor activities including backpacking, rock climbing, and running. When she’s not outside, she enjoys spending time with her family and reading. She looks forward to having an even more amazing bio in 10 years.
